GREENVILLE – The Greenville varsity team fell to the visiting St. Marys Roughriders 4-1 for their first loss of the season.
Greenville’s Noah Haupt defeated St. Marys’ Cam Dingledine 6-3, 5-7 and 6-1 at first singles.
St. Marys recorded wins in second and third singles with Jacob Grannan taking second doubles 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4) over Craig Manges and third singles going to Josh Winglet 6-1, 6-3 over Branson Leigeber.
The Green Wave’s Austin Grate and Josh Smith dropped first doubles 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to CJ Vanderhorst and Howie Spencer. Evan Tennant and Michael Dietz took second doubles for the Roughriders over Aaron Lobenstein and Josh Galloway 6-2, 6-1.
“We ran into a really good team tonight,” said Greenville Coach Dennis Kiser. “We still have a lot of work to do. It is easier to show them that after a loss. We will get better.”
Greenville’s junior varsity team lost 3-2 with Green Wave doubles team Zach Miller and Bryan Day picking up a win and Eric Price and Victor Livesay taking their match.
Greenville varsity moves to 6-1 on the season, St. Mary’s 4-1.
