FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP – A two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon ended with both vehicles traveling off the roadway and one crashing into a house. At approximately 3:17 p.m., emergency personnel from the Laura Fire Department and Arcanum Rescue responded to the intersection of Red River West Grove and Delisle Fourmans Roads to the report of a two-vehicle injury crash with one vehicle into a house.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, a preliminary investigation into the incident revealed a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 39-year-old Timothy Garnett of Somerville, Ohio, was traveling south on Red River West Grove Road where Garnett failed to stop at the intersection and pulled into the path of oncoming traffic. Garnett’s vehicle was struck by a westbound 2007 Honda Accord, operated by 59-year-old Sandra Lacey of Laura. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway and Ms. Lacey’s vehicle struck a residence located southwest of the intersection at 3494 Delisle Fourmans Road.
Ms. Lacey was treated on the scene for serious injuries prior to being transported by Arcanum Rescue to Miami Valley Hospital where her condition remains unknown this time. Garnett was examined on the scene by EMS and refused further treatment and transport to a medical facility. Garnett was cited at the scene.
Residents of the house were home at the time of the crash, however, no injuries were reported nor any major structural damage noted.
The incident will remain under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Department.
