Lady Jets up 7-2 before rain postpones game

GREENVILLE – The Franklin Monroe Lady Jets were leading the Riverside Lady Pirates 7-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when a bolt of lightning sent the players scurrying to their dugouts.

With rain continuing to fall and the playing field saturated, the game was postponed until Thursday, May 25 with a 5:00 p.m. start time.

When the teams take the field the Lady Pirates will be at the plate with a 0-2 count and two outs in the bottom of the seventh trailing by five runs.

The Franklin Monroe girls need just one out to join the Elite Eight in OHSAA D-IV tournament play.

Greenville Athletics Director and Regional Tournament Director, Dusty Yingst, stated there will be no charge for fans attending the completion of the game.
