James J. Hamilton, 73, of Ithaca, crossed the finish line Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at State of the Heart Hospice, Greenville surrounded by his family. Jim was born Jan. 23, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents Jasper and Esther Mae (Bryson) Hamilton.
Jim was a mechanic, inventor and tinkerer by trade. He could fix or create anything with his sharp mind and able hands. He was raised to love automobiles and spent countless hours building and racing his own modified racecar at Eldora Speedway.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend Mollie (Faircloth) Hamilton; children, Tricia (Kevin) Eilerman of Eaton, Elizabeth (Chris) Schul of Atlanta, Ga., Matthew (Nicole) Pohl of Vandalia, and Mark (Missy) Pohl of Arcanum; grandchildren, Macy, Conner and Camille Pohl, Lily Schul and Kris Eilerman, sister-in-law, Jerri (Fred) Zink of Clayton, Gil (Sandi) Faircloth of Loudenville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Grace United Methodist, 750 Arcanum Ithaca Road, Ithaca. Funeral Services will be at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331 or the Cancer Association of Darke County, 1111 Sweitzer St. Suite C, Greenville, OH 45331.
