Greenville police investigate assault at Fifth Street home

GREENVILLE – A man suffered a knife wound to the hand during a alcohol-fueled altercation on the 400 block of E Fifth St. in Greenville Sunday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., the Greenville Police Department and Greenville Twp Rescue responded to the home following the report of a possible stabbing. It was discovered that a male subject had received a non-life-threatening laceration to the hand.

The man initially refused future treatment, but was later transported to the hospital for treatment.

It appears alcohol fueled the incident, according to officers. It remains under investigation at this time.
