GREENVILLE – On Saturday, the Greenville Girls Softball Association (GGSA) Board of Officers voted unanimously to open up our leagues to surrounding communities and organizations along with our local Greenville community.
With many organizations cancelling their seasons for different and very reasonable reasons, it has come to our attention that there is a need for an outlet for those young ladies that would like to play this summer who may not be able to do so because of those cancellations.
We will do our best to accommodate those who would like to play as we feel it is important for the health and well-being of our young people, not just in Greenville but also our friends in the softball community that have reached out to us.
The Board of Officers voted to NOT hold our yearly fundraiser drive this season. Instead we will be using our “pay to play” option this year which is a one-time $50.00 fee which will be collected at the concession stand during the month of June.
All Area Players Welcome.
T-Ball League (4-6 Yrs Old)
Munchkin League (7-8 Yrs)
Minor League (9-11 Yrs)
Junior League (12-14 Yrs)
Senior League (15-19 Yrs)
NOTE: When signing up for fast pitch use the grade that they are currently in now.
This season, all leagues are open to ALL Greenville girls and to girls from surrounding communities that are not being offered softball this season due to cancellation.
All games, including fast pitch, will be played at Stebbins Field this season. We fully expect to go back to playing a full Cross County Fast Pitch League schedule in 2021 when everyone can get back to playing with their home organizations.

GGSA Plan For June Opening
May 17th-20th – Player Sign-Ups – Online and @ Stebbins Field (times listed above)
May 20th-22nd – Coach Search
We need coaches and assistant coaches! Please be sure to note on your player application if you wish to coach, assist, or team parent this year! It is very important, especially this season, that we have plenty of volunteer coaches. We will be contacting potential coaches during this time period.
Saturday, May 23rd – Team Draw @ Stebbins Field
All leagues will draw teams at a designated staggered league meeting time. One coach from each team will be required to attend the drawing. We will be socially distancing and staggering times, so coaches, be prepared to bring your mask or face covering.
This will be a very important day for coaches as we will talk about Responsible Restart Ohio guidelines and you will get other important information at this time.
Friday, May 29th – GGSA Meet The Team @ The Youth Building at the Darke County Fairgrounds
We would like to have just one parent or guardian attend as informational packets will be distributed which will include uniform sizes, schedules, and other important information.
Week of June 1st – Practices Begin
Week of June 8th – Regular Season Begins
NOTE: Leagues will begin the week of June 8th and run through the week of August 10th.
Please be patient with us as we organize and remember we will be practicing social distancing based on the Responsible RestartOhio guidelines.
Face masks or face coverings will be necessary as we gather for organizational meetings, practices, and games. Social distancing can be achieved at the ballpark! We will need your cooperation as we get back to playing softball at Stebbins Field. It can be done if we remember that we are all in this together! Play ball!
Please contact any officer or trustee with any question or concern! Get the most up-to-the-minute information by following Greenville Girls Softball Association on Facebook.
On Thursday, May 14th, Governor Dewine announced that softball could begin on Tuesday, May 26th, as part of the Responsible RestartOhio initiative. As part of this initiative the Ohio Department of Health has released the following Sector Specific Operating Requirements as we move forward to the 2020 Greenville Girls Softball Association season at Stebbins Field. We will be working with our local Health Department as well, as we prepare for opening. Please familiarize yourself with these guidelines:
It is very important that we follow these guidelines to the best of our ability for the safety of our players, parents, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and community. We are looking forward to getting our youth active again and we think a summer of softball is a great way to do that! Let’s do our part by doing what needs to be done to make that happen!
