Fire levels barn near Greenville

GREENVILLE TWP – A 3-alarm fire leveled a barn on Wood Ave in Greenville Township Wednesday night, triggering the response of nine local fire departments.

According to a neighbor who called 911, the flames were visible outside the large metal-sided barn when he returned home at approximately 9 p.m.

A motorcycle, several other vehicles, tools and building materials material were all lost in the blaze. An estimate of property loss has not yet been determined.

“The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature,” said Greenville Twp Fire Chief Aaron Ward. “The barn was secured and the fire started on the inside.”

Crews were on the scene for more than five hours, according to Chief Ward.

The cause of fire remains under investigation at this time.
