Eldora Speedway among sites hacked by ‘ISIS’ group

ROSSBURG – Hearing the word ‘ISIS’ is not something most Darke County residents consider to be a local threat to the community. That changed Saturday as Eldora Speedway was one of several area websites hacked by a group claiming to be the Islamic-based terror group.

The hack was discovered when a header logo on the sites displayed ‘Hacked by Islamic State’ and ‘We Are Everywhere ;)’ with a large Arabic logo and foreign music playing in the background. It is believed to have come through a vulnerability in a common plugin through the administrative area of the sites.

According to a report by our media partners at WHIO, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and are investigating the incident, along with state and federal agencies, as to who may be responsible.

Web host GoDaddy.com helped restore the site for Eldora at approximately 4:25 p.m. Officials at EldoraSpeedway.com assure the site is totally safe for visitors with a homepage alert that states, “America’s Favorite Track’s website is once again as safe as our $2 beer prices. Thank you to the Darke County Sheriff, FBI & GoDaddy for their quick response.”
