City shares traffic plan for fireworks

GREENVILLE – For persons planning on attending the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at the Darke County Faigrounds, the City of Greenville has announced which gates will be open to incoming traffic and how to leave the fairgrounds. The fireworks will be held on July 3 at dusk with a rain date of July 6.

Gates 1, 2 and 5 will be open to incoming traffic. Gate 1 is located across the street from the Chicken Kitchen II and Gate 2 is the main entrance across from the hospital. Gate 5 is located on US Route 121 near the horse barns.

The following will be adhered to upon exiting the fairgrounds.

Gate 1- Right turn (South) onto Sweitzer only, will not be able to turn onto Birt.
Gate 2- Traffic light will be manually operated to provide easy exit from fairgrounds onto Sweitzer (St. Rt. 49)
GATE 5- Traffic will be able to turn north or south out of the fairgrounds onto State Route 121.

Do Not Enter: Gates 3 (Martz Street), Gate 4 (Fort Jefferson Avenue), and Gate 6 (Eidson Road) will not be open to traffic. Gate 6 along Eidson is being used as a staging area for emergency vehicles only.
