GREENVILLE – The Green Wave Marching Band of Pride will be joined by the Greenville Alumni Band performing ‘Script Ohio’ at the Wave’s Homecoming halftime show this Friday at Harmon Field.
“We are looking forward to welcoming back alumni,” said Green Wave Marching Band of Pride director Erick Von Sas, “pulling from over four decades of tradition and pride.”
We have 30-40 alumni and 10-15 Wavettes from the past,” Greenville Band Booster Vice President Rex Weyrick said of alumni’s participating in the Homecoming halftime show. “We are doing ‘Script Ohio’ Friday night with the marching band during halftime.”
“It is wonderful that we can welcome back former members of the Band of Pride and have them play and march with current members,” Von Sas stated. “It reminds the students that music isn’t just for the time they spend in high school.”
“Band is a haven for many students in their formative years, and events like this show all of our current students that they are supported beyond the walls of Greenville High School,” Von Sas noted. “Reuniting with old friends, making new ones, and moving as one really captures what homecoming is all about.”
The Green Wave Marching Band of Pride will march in Thursday night’s Homecoming Parade through downtown Greenville and will participate in the pep rally immediately following at the city park band shell.
Parade line up is at 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot behind LoBill’s on Martin Street.
The Green Wave varsity football team takes on the Tippecanoe Red Devils Friday night at Harmon Field in a GWOC North contest with pregame starting at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
